Buffalo & Erie County Public Library prepares for Indie Author Day

The Buffalo & Erie County Public Library is planning Indie Author Day activities at the Central Library on November 14.
“Whether you’re a published author or just starting your journey, this free event is for you,” the B&ECPL noted in an online announcement. “Book lovers are encouraged to come meet local and indie talent and shop local and indie books.”

Book festival returns to Artpark on September 5

Artpark State Park will welcome the return of the Better Off Read Summer Book Festival to Lewiston, NY, on Saturday, September 5. The all-ages literary festival is free to attend. Now in its fifth year, the event will take place in the Lower Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The mission of the annual event is “to encourage reading, promote writing, and celebrate storytelling.”

WNY shops join in Bookstore Romance Day

Some bookstores are still snobbish to carry romance books, but Bookstore Romance Day has created a dialogue. Now more bookstores are carrying romance books — some are only carrying romance books.

Buffalo Magazine | Syrup gets the spotlight during Maple Weekend

Maple Weekend 2026 is taking part on farms all across New York, including many in the greater WNY area, the last two weekends of March (21-22 and 28-29).
From its start as Maple Sunday with a few Wyoming County sugar houses in 1995, the celebration has grown to include four days of festivities across New York every March. Visitors are able to observe syrup production firsthand, enjoy farming-related activities and try delicious, locally made treats.
